I have a plumbing emergency, what do I do?

Safety first! Electricity and water do not mix well, so switch the electricity off at the switchboard if needed first.

Many appliances and fixtures have taps that you can turn off. For example, the toilet will have a tap below or beside the cistern. If you cannot locate a tap, or that doesn’t stop the leak, then turn off the mains water shutoff valve to stop all water to the home.

Once that is sorted, give us a call, whatever the day or time is. We will be there shortly to fix the leak.

While you are waiting for the plumber to arrive, clear away any significant things from the area, and mop up any water or position a container to catch any drips. If you turned the mains water off, also switch off the hot water heating as well.

Help, I do not know where the main water valve is!
